Scrambit — Chess. Reimagined.
Last updated: June 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Scrambit ("Scrambit", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Scrambit mobile app and its online features. By using Scrambit you agree to the practices described here.

Scrambit is a chess game. You can play offline and against the computer without an account. An account is only needed for online play, ratings, friends, and challenges.

1.Information We Collect

Offline and "Play Computer" modes run entirely on your device and do not require an account or send your games to us.

2.How We Use Your Information

3.How Your Information Is Shared

We use Google Firebase (a Google service) as our backend — specifically Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Messaging. Your data is processed and stored on Google's infrastructure under Google's terms. See Firebase's privacy information.

Some information is visible to other players by design: your username and rating are shown to opponents and people you interact with, and your in‑game chat messages are visible to your opponent in that game.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4.Data Retention & Account Deletion

We keep your account and associated data for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and its associated data (profile, rating, game history, and chat) at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will delete it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations.

5.Children's Privacy

Scrambit is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

6.Security

We rely on Google Firebase's security and on server‑side rules to protect your data, and passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication (we never see them in plain text). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7.Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.

8.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Scrambit after changes means you accept the updated policy.
